Merry Meet!

Welcome to Mercian Forest, a place where you will find everything to meet your Pagan needs.

This listing is for a Altar Tile depicting Lugh.  In Celtic mythology Lugh is the God of Justice and the Harvest amongst other things..  A son Cian (of the Tuatha De Danann) and Ethniu (of the Fomorians).

Lugh had many skills of; a wright, a smith, a champion, a swordsman, a harpist, a hero, a poet, a historian, a sorcerer and of a craftsman and it all these things as a whole that granted him access to the court of the Tuatha De Danann and ultimately made him Chief Ollam of Ireland and there are rich tales to be told of his rise and fall if you wish to read them..

Lugh himself is very prominent at the time of Lughnasadh.  He instituted an event similar to the Olympic Games which he called the Assembly of Talti  (sometimes retold as the games of Lugh) which finished at the start of Lughnasadh which were held in memory of his foster mother Tailtiu.   However, Some believe Lughnasadh itself is a celebration of Lugh's triumph over the spirits of the otherworld (who had tried to keep the harvest for themselves), which is why he is remembered  at harvest time.

This tile is available in two sizes, 7 to 8 cm and 9 to 10 cm please select your preference.
