This representation of Rhiannon/Epona measures around 6 cm in height, she is sculpted from Beige clay, she has been painted lightl giving her an almost chiselled bone affect. She has long hair and over her thighs sits a horses head. She is naked, in her rawest feminine form and there is a Aventurine set within her tummy. Aventurine's magickal properties are for attracting money, peace healing and luck. Spiritually, Aventurine has the same properties rumoured to have healing properties to the heart.
While Rhiannon and Epona share an affinity with horses and there are some undeniable comparatives they are not the same deity.
Rhiannon is a Welsh Goddess, thought to be a goddess of horses, a lunar goddess that symbolises rebirth, fertility and forgiveness. Rhiannon is strongly associated with the otherworld and most definitely the fae! Sometimes being to referred to as the Queen of the fairies.
Epona, another Celtic Goddess, on the other hand is believed to have been born from a horse and a mortal man. She is known as the Goddess of Mares and foals. She is the protector of horses, leading them into the underworld when their fleeting time had passed. She also symbolic of abundance and fertility.
